Transitional eNRMCs and CPv3.0.1 Conformant eNRMCs (token NRMCs)

ePrescribing conformance profile v3.0.1 enables CPv3.0.1 Conformant eNRMC Products to support end-to-end electronic prescriptions.

i.e. Electronic Medication Management (EMM) providers can upload and dispense software can download electronic chart information via eRx to fill a prescription. The same way that ePrescriptions are transmitted for non-NRMC scripts. Under end-to-end electronic prescriptions pharmacists will no longer be required to manually transcribe the prescription information from a Transitional eNRMC product into their dispensing software. You will instead scan a token on the eNRMC to download the electronic chart information. For simplicity we will refer to this model as ‘token eNRMCs’. Minfos is conformant with ePrescribing Conformance Profile v3.0.1.

In time, EMM providers will also become conformant with ePrescribing CPv3.0.1 and will update their eNRMC software. Replacing the current Transitional eNRMC with the token eNRMCs model. During this period, you may need to support both models depending on which one the EMM provider is supporting at the nursing home.

Your EMM provider or Residential Aged Care Facility should advise you when they have updated their eNRMC software to the ePrescribing CPv3.0.1 version. You must then start dispensing these NRMCs electronically.

Transitional eNRMC

Use this method for eNRMCs that are not conformant with ePrescribing CPv3.0.1.

Under this model you will continue to manually transcribe the prescription information from the Transitional eNRMC Product into your dispensing software.

Token eNRMC

When you are advised that the eNRMC software is ePrescribing CPv3.0.1 conformant, you will now start dispensing these scripts electronically.

FAQs

Q. How should eNRMC dispensings be claimed?

A. As part of the claim PBS requires that the patient is identified whether they are in a RACF (Residential Aged Care Facility), if the supply is from an NRMC and if that NRMC is paper or electronic. Minfos will automatically categorise this as part of submitting the claim depending on if you are dispensing under the transitional arrangement or from a v3.0.1 conformant eNRMC. It is important that you dispense the supply correctly so that the claim is categorised appropriately i.e. do not manually dispense from a token eNRMC instead of downloading the chart data via eRx.
