Set your dispense labels to print with the Active Ingredient as the default to align with AI prescribing requirements.

The dispense label can be configured to print three ways by adjusting the Brand Specific setting.

The options are Brand Specific:

 0. Default: With this option set the dispense label will print according to how you searched for the drug. For example:

  •  If you search for the drug by the brand name (Apo-Atorvastatin) the dispense label will print with the brand name as the main focus
  • If you search for the drug by the generic name (/Atorvastatin) the dispense label will print with the generic name as the main focus

1. Always On: With this option set the dispense label will print with the brand name as the main focus, regardless of how the drug was searched on the Dispense Form. For example:

2. Always Off: With this option set the dispense label will print with the generic name as the main focus, regardless of how the drug was searched on the Dispense Form. For example:

Set your Brand Specific preference:

From Dispense Pro:

1. Click the Maintenance menu and select D. Configuration.

The Configuration window is displayed.2. Click the Dispense/Customer tab.

3. Click the Brand Specific drop-down and select 2. Always Off

4. Click OK to save and close.

After you have performed the above action, Brand Specific will NOT be checked on the Dispense Form regardless of how you search for the Drug. The dispense label will print/display with the Active Ingredient before or above the Brand selected.If required this can be adjusted with each dispensing:

1. Check the Brand Specific checkbox or press [Alt + B]. 

The Dispense Form display will update.2. Complete your dispensing as per your usual process.
