How eScripts display on the Dispense Form

When an eScript is downloaded from the PDS the Dispense Form populates to support dispensing an electronic prescription.The Dispense Form displays the:

a. eScript Details window – refer to the eScript Details  section of this article.

b. eScript button. This replaces the Owing check box, which is not available when dispensing an eScript.

Navigation of the eScript details dialog

1. Use the mouse to change the focus between the Dispense Form and the eScript Details window.

2. Use the mouse to move the eScript Details window.

3. Use the X to close the eScript Details, click the eScript button [Alt+Shift+;] to re-open the eScript Details window.

4. To view directions that exceed the two lines available on the eScript Details window, hover the mouse over the directions area and the full instructions will display.

eScript Details screen

The eScript Details screen displays the downloaded details of the prescription. It is the electronic equivalent of the paper original script and, if dispensing a repeat supply, the Repeat Authorisation form is displayed.

Copy of Original eScript

This displays the prescription information as entered into the prescriber’s software. The following table outlines the fields that may display, depending on the type of script, in each section.

  • Prescriber’s name, address and phone number

  • HPI-O of the prescribing organisation
  • Hospital Provider Number (HPN)
  • Residential Aged Care Facility ID (RACF ID)

c. Patient Section

  • Patient’s Medicare card number
  • Patient’s date of birth
  • Pharmaceutical benefits entitlement number e.g. Concession/DVA/Entitlement number
  • Patient’s name
  • Patient’s address

d. Drug Section

  • Prescription date
  • CTG flag
  • Drug PBS Code or ‘Private’ for private scripts
  • Brand substitution not permitted checkbox
  • Drug name and strength*
  • Form and active ingredient*
  • Directions**
  • Route of administration (ROA)
  • If the prescriber has indicated the script is an unusual dose *UNUSUAL DOSE* will display
  • Prescription quantity
  • Repeat quantity
  • Repeat interval
  • Authority Number
  • Streamline Authority Number
  • States authorisation reference number ***

 

If the name is too long to display on the screen, hover the mouse over the brand name or the active ingredients to display the name in full

 

** If the directions are too long to display on the screen, hover the mouse over the directions to display them in full

** Minfos will reflect the name of this field based on your states legislation i.e. 

  • NSW & NT will read as ‘Authorisation Number’
  • WA & TAS – ‘Authority Number’
  • SA – ‘Permit Number’
  • VIC – ‘Warrant Number’
  • ACT & QLD – ‘Approval Number’

e. Annotation Section

  • Doctor annotation’s displayed first
    • The doctor’s annotation field may display: Maximum quantity authorised to dispense (in numbers and words if a controlled drug) 
    • If the Prescriber is:

  1. In the case of prescription drug for animal use – the owner of the animal; or the person acting on behalf of the owner

A podiatrist

Copy of Repeat Authorisation

When dispensing a repeat eScript, the eScript Details window will populate with a Copy of Repeat Authorisation and a Copy of Original eScript.

The focus will be on the Copy of Repeat Authorisation. The following table outlines the fields that may display, depending on the type of script, in each section.

  • Cannot supply before date
  • Original script number
  • Original pharmacy PBS approval number
  • Number of repeats authorised by the prescriber
  • Number of times already dispensed
  • Hospital Provider Number (HPN)

To change view between the repeat and the original script details click Copy of Original eScript tab at the top of the form or use the arrow keys.
