An automatic overnight backup should run each night. However, if your Minfos Server is shut down or there is a power outage overnight, this may not happen.
There are also times when running a manual back is recommended even if the overnight automatic backup ran.
For example:
- If the Backup Status bar displays a backup in red
- Before any hardware or software changes are made to your Minfos Server
To complete a manual backup
From the Minfos Launch Pad:
1. Click the Special menu and select Back Up Database.
The Back Up Database window is displayed.
2. Check the Continue checkbox.
3. Click Okay.
Note: If the following Back Up Failed prompt is displayed, a Minfos Cloud backup is in progress, wait 10 minutes and attempt another manual backup.
The Back Up prompt is displayed.
4. Click OK.
- The backup will run in the background, and you can continue to use Minfos as usual
- Once the backup has completed the Backup status bar is updated with the date and time and is displayed in black font if there were no issues
Tip: If you do not see the Backup status bar: 1. Click the View menu and select Status Bar.The Backup status bar will now display.
- If there were issues with the full backup the Backup status bar will display the date and time in red font
- Try to run the backup again if it still fails call Minfos Support
Adjust the number of full backups retained locally on the server
Note: Minfos recommends you discuss with your Hardware Vendor before making a change to this configuration to ensure you have enough disk space to support retaining multiple backups. If you run out of disk space then this may negatively impact your nightly backup.

1. Click the Special menu and select Utilities.
The Utilities module is displayed.
2. Click the Config menu and select 1. Shop Configuration.
The Shop Configuration window is displayed.
3. Click the Backup tab.
4. From the General Settings section, click the Number of local backups to retain dropdown and select the required number.
5. Click OK to save.
