Staying informed about sales performance is crucial for making informed decisions and driving growth within your pharmacy. This report provides a comprehensive view of sales performance and invaluable insights across categories at your store.
- Assessing GP% (Gross Profit Percentage): By analysing the GP% of products sold within a specific date range and category, businesses can gain insights into profit margins and identify areas for optimisation
- Performance Evaluation: Category Sales Reports allow businesses to evaluate the performance of each category within their pharmacy, enabling them to allocate resources effectively and prioritise areas for improvement
- Product Allocation: These reports help in identifying products that have been sold but are not properly allocated to a category, ensuring accurate inventory management and tracking
- Identifying Negative GP%: Detecting categories with a negative GP% is crucial for addressing profitability issues and implementing corrective measures to improve overall financial health
- Assessment of Discountable Products: Category Sales Reports enable businesses to assess the performance of discountable products, informing pricing strategies and promotions effectively
Tip It is recommended that a Summary Format report be run regularly. Investigate any problematic categories by running a Sales By Range report for the specific category with Show Detail checked.
The Sales By Range report can be run manually when required or scheduled to run automatically after the End of Day according to a specified schedule.
Run or Schedule the report
1. From the Reporting module, click the Sales By Range Report icon.Alternatively, click the Sales menu and select C. Sales by Range.
The Sales By Range window is displayed.
2. Select the Report Type you want to generate. Choose from:
- Product
- Department
- Company
- IEU
- Brand
- Class
- Location
- Price Policy
3. Check Report on the entire range to include all products/categories in the report.
4. Alternatively specify a range of products/categories in the From Code and To Code fields.
5. Click the Report Period drop-down and select the period you want to report on.
Note If you selected Last... or Other date range, specify the relevant period in the additional fields provided.
6. Review the Preview field to ensure you have selected the intended period.
7. Click the Content drop-down and choose to include:
- 1. Dispensary Sales
- 2. Retail Sales
- 3. All Sales
8. Click the Format drop-down and choose from:
- Summary Format
- Weekly Format
- Monthly Format
9. Check Stocked Only to only include products marked as Stocked in the report.
Note If Stocked Only is checked, only products marked as Stocked (Reorder) will be included in this report which could lead to incomplete reports.
10. If required, check Show Detail. This will display the Product Name and Primary Barcode of each product within the selected range that has sold within the period selected.
11. Click Run to generate the report immediately.
The report is displayed.
12. Alternatively, to schedule the Category Sales report to run automatically after the End of Day click Schedule. Refer to Schedule a report.
Note The report is named based on the Report Type and Format that was selected. For example, if Department was selected the report is named Department Sales Report.
